You just received DirecTV and you like it. But wait – you can’t find a way to access Netflix! We have bad news for you: you can’t. Even though DirecTV has a lot of high quality entertainment, you simply can’t access Netflix.
However, this does not mean that you are out of luck. Our homes and devices are more connected than ever, which means there are plenty of other ways to watch Netflix movies on TV. You don’t necessarily need the latest technology to do this. Read our guide below to find out how.
Method 1 – Use a smart TV application
The easiest way to watch Netflix on most modern TVs is to install Netflix. It may already be installed! If not, check the TV’s app store and see if it’s there. Remember: while you can upload apps to your phone, the risks are much higher with smart TVs. For this reason, we strongly advise you.
Once the app is installed, simply log in with your Netflix credentials and start watching.
Method 2 – Use a laptop and an HDMI cable
If you’re lucky enough to have a laptop with an HDMI port, you can go to the Netflix site first. Then connect one end of the HDMI cable to the laptop and the other end to the HDMI input on the TV. Finally, switch the TV to the correct input source. Voila – everything you see on your laptop screen should now be duplicated on your TV.

Method 3 – Use a USB stick
Netflix recently introduced a feature that allows users to download certain movies and TV shows for offline viewing. Although most of us will never use this option, it is very useful if you do not have a smart TV. You can first download the title you want to see.
After downloading, insert a USB stick into the computer and transfer the file through. Then insert the USB stick behind the TV. A menu will probably appear. So navigate the menu until you find the file. If all goes well, the movie should start playing.

It doesn’t have to be difficult to watch Netflix on TV. Unfortunately, given that DirecTV and Netflix are competitors, it’s unlikely that there will ever be built-in support, but we can always hope so. In the meantime, though, the above tips should be enough to keep you going. Have fun in the stream!
